Reigniting the Spark: Big Changes, Big Dreams
When I first launched Sparked Candles, I took a leap of faith—refinancing my car, taking out a loan, and diving headfirst into a dream I had been sitting on for years. I mixed my two greatest passions—creating handmade soy candles and providing meaningful job opportunities for individuals with disabilities—because I believed, and still believe, that this business can make a real impact.
Since that first blog post, so much has happened. We've moved to a new county, faced some challenges (hello, failed scent experiments and a demanding job that pulled me away for a while), but now? Now, I’m back on track, refocused, and ready to take Sparked Candles to the next level.
We’re rolling out a new line of scents, making big improvements to our website to create a smoother shopping experience, and most importantly—taking steps toward making my ultimate dream a reality. I don’t just want to sell candles. I want to create a workplace where adults with disabilities can thrive, incorporating ABA principles into their vocational training. And now, with our new 3-acre property in Harford County, that dream feels closer than ever.
Of course, there’s still a lot to figure out. I need a grant writer, support with the business side of things, and a solid plan to make this dream sustainable. But that’s part of the journey, right? Writing this blog is one way I’m keeping myself accountable and staying connected with all of you who believe in this mission.
So here’s to growth, change, and chasing big dreams. Sparked Candles is just getting started.
